The Tell Game
Instructions
Objective
Your goal in The Tell Game is to determine whether to play or fold based on the likelihood that your opponent has
drawn an ace. If your opponent has at least one ace, they win the game. If they don’t have any aces, you
win.
Game Setup
Opponent’s Draw
- The opponent draws two cards.
- If they have at least one ace, they win.
- f they have no aces, you win.
The Tell (Opponent’s Behavior)
- If the opponent has at least one ace, they will scratch their nose with probability.
- If the opponent has no aces, they will scratch their nose with probability.
Your Turn
- Before the opponent draws, you will draw 7 cards from the deck and look at them. This cards are set aside
and not returned to the deck.
- Decision: Play or Fold
- If you choose to play, you will:
- Win 10 points if the opponent does not have an ace.
- Lose 20 points if the opponent does have an ace.
- If you fold, the round ends without gaining or losing points.
There are two types of players in this game
Probability-Only Player
- This player does not consider the opponent's tell (scratching their nose).
- They base their decision purely on the probability of the opponent having an ace.
Tell-Reading Player
- This player takes the opponent’s tell into account.
- They make their decision based on the probability of the opponent having an ace given that the opponent
scratched their nose or did not.

two players.
